Old Management System vs. New Management System

So, today I am going to share with you the second lesson that I got from Prof. Mandi. He really has got a knack of simplifying things for better understanding and that’s what he did today. So, just to tell about the difference between the Old Management System and the New Management System he conducted one simple activity. Two different scenarios were explained:-

1)      Scheme1
Students were first asked how tall (no. of cubes they can arrange one over the other) the tower can they make with they given cubes. Rule was simple that whosoever can arrange the most no. of block and can bid (money) the highest for performing the task will be called up on stage to perform.

2)      Scheme 2
Now, in second scenario the one building the tower will be blindfolded but he will be given instructions from another person acting as his manager and one more person will be acting like their CEO to set goals for them. Rules was again the same that whosoever team can arrange the most no. of block and can bid (money) the highest for performing the task will be called up on stage to perform.

Observations:-

      Conclusion:-

1.       The first case is that of Old Management System where only one person is responsible for carrying out the entire task by himself.
2.       The second case is that of New Management System where work is broken into small elements.

Inferences:-

Result:-
The modern day management wants a Blind Folded Person rather than Open Eyed Person because they want the workers to blindly follow their instruction and they want that the decision making power lies completely with the management.

It was a fun filled class where an important concept was taught in simplest of ways J. I will keep posting the new teachings so keep visiting my blog regularly to be updated.

POM: Think and Earn......Earn and Learn

I always had second thoughts about my decision of joining NITIE but in matter of few days everything has changed and now I believe I made the right choice J. If the first day of the session was good then the second day was just so coooool and awesome :D . I woke up thinking it to be just another day of life but then I was probably wrong because I had the pleasure of meeting one of the coolest professors I had ever been taught by. Proff. Prasad or rather Proff. Mandi as he popularly known as not only in NITIE but all over India.

He came to the class; straightaway went to front side of the class and sat there. I had a surprised look on my face and I was thinking to what he was upto but then he called everyone in the front and made each one of us sit around him.  And then started the most lively and animated class I ever got a chance to attend. It was not like a professor was taking with his students but it was more like a friend sharing his knowledge and experience……. english , hindi, telgu, tamil, everything was fine with him.   After some personal questions that fellow mates had their in their mind started one mind boggling session on “MANDI” a brainchild of Prof.  Prasad. And like a wizard he came up with three different things, a globe cum playing ball, a butterfly that never seemed to fall and a Newton's Cradle that caught everyone’s attention because though we all had technical background but still we haven’t seen something like this before.

It was a very simple and elegantly designed toy or device and everyone knew the physics behind it but it the way it was presented to us that caught everyone’s eye.  An atmosphere of anxiety was created among us by Prof. Mandi and everyone were eagerly waiting for the next step and it was as if a magician is at work because from the style of holding it to way of presenting it, everything seemed to have caught our attention. And this was one of the lessons that we got today , that how a simple thing can be presented so creatively that it can be turned into a business idea. Then the second lesson was how learning and earning should go simultaneously in a B School because the best way for grasping the managerial knowledge is by applying it during the two years of your stay at college. Just pure gyaaaaaan.
To put it more simpler words, Prof. Mandi has written a Slogan as given below :

Soacho.. Becho !  Becho.. Seekho ! !   Seekho .. Soacho ! ! !
Behatar Padhai ke Liye... Kamai !
Earning by Learning . & .Earning for Learning  !
Aaj Ki roti...Aaj hee,  kamyaenghae  !

This is my first blog and I have tried to put my thoughts and experience in simpler and interesting words. Hope you enjoyed my blog J and gained some knowledge out of it. Many more to come and if you have any suggestion then they are most welcomed because it will help me in improving my future blogs :D .
